My Story I was born in 1977. I weigh way too much and have for as long as I can remember. Actually, I think it was about oh, fifth or sixth grade when I started to become a bit bigger (and taller) than the other girls. It wasn't until high school, though, that it started to become a problem. I'm out of control and perhaps if I make this public and seek out people in the same predicament or people who have been there, I can do it and actually change my lifestyle. I want to be healthy. I need to get healthy. I have even been denied health insurance because of my weight. Well, I still could have gotten health insurance, just at a much higher rate. Talk about an embarrassment! I definitely need encouragement and prodding. I'm stubborn by nature. I finally worked up enough courage to go to my first Weight Watchers meeting on May 15, 2002. The meetings I attend are community meetings and you must pay for a whole series at once. When I joined, I was two weeks behind, with eighteen weeks remaining. I'm glad I had to pay for all that time at once or I may have not went back. (couldn't just waste all that money, you know!) Attending that initial meeting was such a big step for me. The first time was so scary and intimidating, but now I look forward to Wednesdays (my meeting and weigh-in day). I totally recommend the meetings, not only are they informative and fun, but just being there with people in the same predicament as you is such a great support outlet. One thing that makes weight loss for me especially difficult is the fact that I am a manager at a local fast food restaurant. Being a manager, I get all the food I want, for free. Quitting this job is not an option for me at this time. I must simply (or not so simply) learn to control myself. There are many more reasons for me losing weight. You can read them by following this link: Reasons You are more than welcome to follow me in my quest for a healthier lifestyle. I have a guestbook where you can leave a message or email me at need2lose@hotmail.com . |
